San Francisco Garter Snake
Thamnophis sirtalis tetrataenia
San Francisco garter snake also known the most beautiful serpent and traces its history to San Mateo County in California. Though it is widely found in scattered and isolated areas, the snake is relatively large and can grow to be 51 inches long.
The snakes characterized with a strip of greenish and yellow colours bordered with black running through the length of the body, lives in moist areas such as meadows and tall grass. The snake also loves to live moist woodlands ponds that have large frogs in which they can feed on.
The snake known to be very harmless and very shy will often go under ground or flee into water when disturbed or when it senses danger. it is also very cagey that is why it cant trust any sound that may seem to be that of a predator. The snake also uses the bank side to take cover upon any disturbance.

The other factor that endangers the San Francisco garter snake is that the bullfrog feeds on baby and juvenile San Francisco garter snakes and this may lead to their extinction. The snake furthermore can ingest poisonous or toxic California newt which poses no dangerous reaction on the snake, this is without falling ill or dying.
